Studio Policies

  • More than 7 days' notice: Refund less a 10% administrative fee, or receive a full studio credit.

    Less than 7 days' notice: 50% refund, or you're welcome to transfer your booking to a friend.

    Class start date: No refunds or studio credits.

  • Multi-week sessions: Makeup classes are not available. We ask students to only register for a session if they can commit to the entire course.

    One-time workshops: One-night workshop bookings can be rescheduled with at least 7 days' notice, subject to availability, using the link in your confirmation email.

  • Pottery involves equipment, materials, and processes that may present health and safety risks, including exposure to dusts and chemicals. Beechwood Pottery Studio is not liable for injury resulting from failure to follow safety guidelines.

    • Always follow all staff instructions and posted safety notices

    • Do not operate, load, or unload kilns at any time

    • Be aware that clay, glaze materials, and studio processes can create fine dust, including respirable crystalline silica, which may cause serious long-term lung damage (silicosis). Only wet cleaning methods are permitted to control dust in the studio

    • Inform staff of any relevant health conditions such as respiratory issues, skin sensitivities, or pregnancy before using the studio

    • Tie back long hair and secure loose clothing and jewellery

    • Closed-toe, closed-heel footwear must be worn at all times

    • Do not use equipment unless authorized and supervised by staff

  • Children’s classes: 6 to 13

    Open Studio/Wheel Practice: 18+

    Classes and Workshops: 14+

  • Every effort is made to ensure your work is fired safely; however, pottery can crack, warp, or break during drying, firing, or handling. We cannot guarantee the survival of any piece and are not responsible for work that is damaged or lost during the ceramic process.

  • Finished work must be collected within 6 weeks of the date of your last class. See our Pottery Pickup page for more info

    • Our entrance is at the back of the building.

    • We are not wheelchair accessible: there is one flight of stairs to enter the facility, and three doors. If you require assistance, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you.

  • Pottery can get messy! Wear something you don't mind getting dirty: some clays and glazes can stain. We recommend trimming your fingernails. For the winter months, please bring a pair of indoor shoes.
